How to Make Your Own Coffee Coasters

Recently, I refreshed our bedroom and have added a few vinatge touches of decor here and there, including some new (to me) nightstands. I really wanted to find some unique yet vinatge style coffee coasters that would protect the surfaces. However, most coasters I found that were to my specific taste, seemed to cost more than I wanted to spend, this is where making my own came into play. Which is why I’m so excited to share how to make your own coffee coasters, adding a unique, handmade touch to any space in your home.

Let’s Get Started

This diy project is super simple and can easily be done in under 20 minutes! These also would make a great handmade gift idea for friends or family.

There are only a few things you will need and all can easily be found at your local craft store. I personally purchased all of my supplies at Hobby Lobby.

What You Will Need

  • Paint brush
  • Scissors
  • Wooden craft project coasters

How to Make the Coffee Coasters

Personally, I had a ton of fun browsing the store for scrapbook paper. I fell in love with a book of beautiful, vinatge style paper by The Paper Studio.

Once you’ve collected all your craft supplies, you can begin learning how to make your own coffee coasters.

First, start by cutting out an exact square piece of your chosen scrapbook paper, using your coaster as a pattern.

Personally, I wanted my coasters to have a more worn, vinatge look, so I tore the edges a bit. You can do this step if you would like that preferred look, if not you can definitely skip this step!

Next, paint the backside of your paper with Mod Podge glue, and quickly stick it onto your wooden coaster.

Finally, put a coat of Mod Podge over the glued on paper. This will protect it and give it a more seeled and finshed look.

They are that simple and easy to make! You can get pretty creative with different scrapbook papers, and trully make these your own.
