How to Make a Baby Crinkle Toy
Simple how to tutorial for how to make a baby crinkle toy.

- sewing machine

- multiple ribbons of choice I used four different ones
- two fabrics one print, one solid
- fleece minky, soft material for backing of toy
- crinkle paper
Begin by washing and drying all fabrics and presssing them with a hot iron.
Then cut a 4in x 12in strip of each of your print and solid fabrics. Don't cut your backing fabric yet.
Once those two are cut, take them over to your sewing machine and sew all the way down using the edge of the pressser foot as your guide for width. Next, cut two 3 1/2in wide pieces from your sewn strip. Then piece them together by pinning the edges to each other creating a quilt block layout. Sew with the edge of your presser foot as your guide, each strip together. Then use this block as your pattern to cut out a piece of crinkle paper and your backing fabric. Now, we are going to cut out the ribbons. I winged it on the size, just cutting what I thought I would like for the ribbon size for my toy. I think I did 12 - 3 1/2in pieces. If you layer ribbons like I did you will need a few extra.
Once you get those cut out, you will then pin them laying into the center of your "quilt" block print side up. I personally took mine to the sewing machine and sewed each ribbon onto my block before piecing everything togther. It made it so much easier to sew the layers and turn inside out.
Next, place your backing fabric on top of the ribbons and print fabric block, then add your piece of crinkle paper on top of that. You'll then sew all the way arounf your block with a 1/2in seam. Leaving a small opening to turn your toy inside out. Trim edges and corners before reversing. Lastly, turn the toy inside out and pin opening shut. Sew a tiny seam all the way around the toy to seal the opening and outline the toy.
