How to Make Burp Cloths
Easy tutorial for how to make burp cloths.
Materials
- sewing machine
- sewing pins
- sewing scissors
- cloth diaper prefolds
- 1 yd fabric of choice
- iron
- sewing thread that matches your fabric
- sewing needle
- sewing gauge
Instructions
- Begin by setting up your iron, sewing machine, and all the things you will need.
- Next cut several 3in x 36in strips of fabric. You might have to sew a few together in order to create a long enough strip.
- Now begin making your bias tape. You can use a Bias Tape Maker tool or do it by hand like I did. There are also lots of easy tutorials on Youtube that explain how to make bias tape if you aren't familiar. Using my sewing gauge, I pressed under 1/4in on both sides, then folded each over to the middle and pressed again.
- Once you have all your bais tape made, you can now start sewing it into your cloth diaper prefolds. You are just attaching this like you would any normal bias tape. Sewing into the 1/4in ditch of the pressed fabric, along the edge of your prefold.
- After you've sewn your bais tape on and mitered your corners, you will fold over your tape and pin onto the prefold. Then hand sew using a simple slipstitch all along the other edge.
